No pep in Oklahoma
OU, OSU cancel traditional pep rallies, citing cost
A lot of the student reaction has been indifferent.
OSU freshman Calvin Warner said he hadn't heard about Orange Peel being canceled but that he probably would not have attended this year anyway.
"I'm not really a fan of Alan Jackson," the country music singer who was set to perform, Warner said.
"I hope someone else would have come with him," he said. "I don't think a country music star would have been something that interested students."
At OU, the reaction was the same.
"I'm very indifferent about the Big Red Rally going away," junior Craig Van Horn said. "The event has just become something that alumni and area residents take their kids to so they can see (OU football coach) Bob Stoops."
