Stillman College cutting staff

A few years ago, Stillman was quite active in the Association for Continuing Higher Education.  Recently, not so much.  Also recently, they have had enrollment and revenue issues.  Hmmm.  It's a shame because it's a fine institution, and I always enjoyed working with it's continuing education staff.

15 jobs cut at Stillman College
Stillman College leaders eliminated about 15 jobs this week because student enrollment for the semester will not support them, a spokeswoman for the college said Tuesday.

'It's something we look at every year because we are an enrollment-driven institution,' said Veronica Clark, assistant vice president for marketing and public relations. 'If the numbers aren't there, then the college can't support a full work force. It's one of those things that has to be done even though it's not pleasant.' . . .

In June, the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which oversees higher education accreditation in 11 Southern states, placed Stillman on warning status for six months after its 10-year accreditation review found the college in non-compliance with two financial accrediting standards.

The commission could reaffirm accreditation, extend the warning or place Stillman on probation at its meeting in December. The college remains accredited.
