We did the same thing at ETSU

That they're doing at the University of Lousiana at Lafayette.  Libraries aren't just card catalogs any more.

Library boosting tutoring, comfort
The university plans to transform the first floor of the Edith Garland Dupré Library into a learning commons complete with the resources students need for research, group projects and study time.

“Our goal is to make our library a student-centered area where they can get in their research and technology needs, writing and information literacy needs and academic support needs all in one location,” Susan Richard, professor of library science and associate dean of libraries.

The library’s 150-computer station lab is popular with students, with many waiting in line to use one, Richard said.

Another popular draw is the library’s coffeehouse — Jazzman’s — added last year.
