I haven't been to Dollywood this year

But I probably need to go in order to renew my redneck street cred.  As The Tennessean notes, Dollywood is an award winning park.

Dollywood gets 5 first-place park awards

The Dollywood theme park in the Smokies foothills has five first-place honors in the Golden Ticket awards. 

The awards are presented by Amusement Today and recognize the “best of the best” in parks. 

Dolly Parton said sweeping five top awards was even sweeter because the park that bears her name hosted the awards presentation on Saturday. 

Dollywood repeated as the first-place park for Best Shows and Best Christmas Event. 

The park also won, for the first time, the top honor in Best New Ride, for the Wild Eagle. 

Also new top honors this year were Friendliest Park and Best Food.

This is race weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway, and ETSU starts classes on Monday

Tennessee isn't in the top ten of highest percentage of obese residents.  Still, we're a biscuit away from having 30% of our residents obese. Mmmmmm....biscuits. From USA Today.

Only five states have a lower median household income

Than Tennessee's $41,461. Tennessee is ahead of Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia, and of course, Mississippi.  Maryland is tops at $68,854. From NPR's Planet Money.

Some takeaways: Almost one household out of every four (24.9 percent) makes less than $25,000 a year. About one in three households (30.1 percent) made between $50,000 and $100,000. One in five households (19.9 percent) made more than $100,000 a year.
